Global demand for solar energy is booming as it is rapidly gaining momentum as a cost competitive reliable source of clean energy. Over the past five years alone, annual growth of the solar industry has averaged over 42%, and leading research organizations expect the industry to grow at this pace in the foreseeable future. This growth has been driven by explosive demand primarily in Europe, Asia, and isolated states in the US where cost of electricity is increasing rapidly, thus solar energy is gradually becoming cost competitive when compared to conventional energy. Over the next decade, solar energy is expected to be a mainstream source of electricity generation.
